Dirty Tricks

Dig Deep or Heap High to Claim the Forest!

In Dirty Tricks, lead your Badger clan to victory in this mischievous turf war. Compete to dominate the forest by digging the deepest Sett or building the tallest Spoil heap as you navigate dynamic trick-taking gameplay. The Elder Burrower, the forest’s wisest badger, sets the stakes for each trick, deciding if the highest or lowest card wins. Use your wits to manipulate the trick’s value, but beware of the Soil Switch, which can flip the trick’s value.

Gameplay overview

    • Setup: Set up the Score Track and deal the cards to players and the Dirt Pile.
    • Trick-Taking: The Dirt Pile determines the trump suit for each trick, and the Elder Burrower on the back of the cards decides if the highest or lowest card wins.
    • Winning Tricks: Move along the Score Track according to the trick's value, aiming to win by heaping high to score +20 or digging deep to score -20.
    • Soil Switch: If all cards played are positive or negative it flips the trick’s value.
    • Bonus Moves: Each trick won earns a bonus move at the end of the round.
